Noah Bergman
Upon graduating from the University of Michigan in 2017 with a Sport Management degree, Noah faced no appealing job prospects in the sport business field. The thought of applying for jobs that did not align with his career goals was undesirable and redirected him towards the decision to travel through Australia and Southeast Asia. Noah’s interest in traveling and experiencing new cultures grew throughout his college years, venturing through Europe and going on Birthright in Israel. Perhaps Noah’s biggest hobby has been disc-jockeying under the alias "Iceberg". He has been mixing music for about seven years and still finds time to do so while on the move. Noah has also developed an interest in making GoPro videos, which he then pairs with his music mixing abilities to create exciting highlights of his travels. One of his favorite aspects of backpacking has been meeting people from around the world and learning about their cultures. Noah hopes to find a job working in sports or work in the audio/visual content creation field back in the U.S.
Zach Dubin
A native of the San Francisco area, Zach intended to enter the political world after his 2017 graduation from the University of Michigan with a degree in Public Policy. However, a senior year “what am I doing with my life?” crisis led him to explore other opportunities, culminating in the decision to spend a gap year traveling in Australia and Asia. Zach has a lifelong love of travel that started with his first international trip to London in 2005, a gift from his grandparents who inspired him to see as much of the world as possible. Since then, he’s traveled through much of Europe, as well as taken several trips to Israel. His favorite part of traveling is the realization that people from around the world are just like him with similar dreams and interests despite their different nationalities and backgrounds. In Zach’s free time, he obsesses over sports, particularly Michigan football, and is an avid reader of sci-fi and military fiction. Upon his return to the U.S., he hopes to work in an editorial role for a public relations/marketing firm before obtaining a Master’s degree in Journalism. Zach’s long term goal is to work as a foreign correspondent.
Danny Ryan
A proud Michigander, Danny graduated from the University of Michigan in the spring of 2017 with a degree in Communications. LIke every quarter life crisis, the genesis of Danny’s (additional) anxiety stemmed from indecisiveness on which career path to follow. While originally wanting to pursue a career in broadcasting, Danny hit the reset button late senior year, in hopes of having a premier abroad experience. Wanting to take after his father, who lived in France for a year before going to law school, Danny set his sights on Australia for his gap year. Danny’s favorite part about traveling is meeting people from all over the world and finding similarities with them. He thinks traveling can change how we view the world and help people understand the importance of recognizing different cultures. In his free time, Danny is a devoted hockey fan, enjoys making sports/lifestyle podcasts and is an overall good guy to be around. After his travels, Danny hopes to pursue a career in marketing and advertising in his dream city of Chicago, before attending graduate school in a few years.
savanah harvey
Born and raised on the beautiful beaches of San Diego, California, Savanah’s love for the ocean has been a staple in her life for many years. Despite her love of the ocean and her fear of cold temperatures, Savanah graduated from the University of Michigan in 2017 with a degree in Communications, focusing on Marketing and Digital Studies. After her studies and the constant pressure to obtain a corporate job, Savanah moved to Los Angeles to work within William Morris Endeavor’s Music department. It was during her long hours behind a computer, booking and routing concert after concert, that she realized there was more to life than corporate America. Having been an actively practicing yogi for multiple years, she decided to focus on her practice as she contemplated when and what her next journey would be. After many hours on her mat and conversations with her loved ones, Savanah decided to quit her job with the plan of moving back to San Diego to enroll in yoga teacher training before heading off on a solo journey through Australia and New Zealand. After months of hard work, Savanah is currently on her journey, incorporating her love of the ocean and yoga into her work holiday experience. She is living and working at a yoga retreat centre in Byron Bay, Australia, using her work holiday visa in a much different way than our other Permanent Holidayers.
